The Chapter is pleased to host Mr. Ruben Barrales, President and CEO, San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Barrales has an extensive background in both government and private industry, with experience as an elected official and as an advocate for business.
He served in the White House for over five years as Deputy Assistant to the President and Director of Intergovernmental Affairs for President George W. Bush. Barrales was the President's liaison to the nation’s governors and other state and local elected officials.
Prior to joining the President's staff, Mr. Barrales was president and CEO of Joint Venture: Silicon Valley Network, a civic organization of Silicon Valley business, government and academic leaders focused on education reform and public policy.

The San Diego Chapter of Women in Defense (WID), an NDIA affiliate, will be holding their 2nd Annual Symposium on Thursday, February 25 at the Loews Coronado Bay Resort. The theme of this year's event is "STRENGTH THROUGH DIVERSITY: Accepting Challenge...Accelerating Change." The speakers include Christine Wormuth - Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Homeland Defense and Americas’ Security Affairs, Vice Admiral Ann E. Rondeau, USN - President, National Defense University, and Carol LeBeau, formerly of Channel 10 News. In an exclusive 'fireside chat' setting Carol LeBeau will interview Captain, USA(RET) Dawn Halfaker, one of only a handful of female amputees wounded in combat and who now serves as the Vice President, Board of Directors for the Wounded Warrior Project. Other panels include distinguished military, government, and industry leaders. Proceeds of the Symposium allow the Chapter to contribute to the
National Horizons Scholarship program and fund the local WID San Diego Scholarship program. Government attendees are eligible to earn four DAU credits toward continuous learning.
